Massachusetts Bearberry is a beautiful, prostrate native evergreen shrub that forms a dense mat of small lustrous rich green foliage that may bronze in winter. The small faint pink bell shaped flowers bloom in early spring and are followed by attractive red berries that display in fall and winter. Grows best in poor, dry to average, well-drained acidic soils.  Tolerates drought, salt, and poor soils.  Massachusetts has improved tolerance for wet soils, and is resistant to leaf spot and leaf gall.
