Charmaine Clematis is a reblooming deciduous perennial vine that can be used for climbing or a groundcover with deep green pointed foliage. Abundant large rich red flowers bloom first in late spring to mid summer and again in early fall. Grows best with partial sun on the roots and full sun on the vines, moist well-drained soils. Needs support to climb. Charmaine's flowers needs full sun to show their true color; any shade will induce purple hues.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Medium Maintenance. Water regularly, do not let soil dry out. It will need support if used for climbing. Prune back dead or weak vines in late winter and trim back remaining vines to first buds seen. Potential diseases include wilt (can be fatal), powdery mildew, and rust. Potential pests include scale, mites, weevils, earwigs, and slugs.
