Paper Birch is a fast-growing native deciduous tree with a loosely oval to pyramidal crown and exfoliating bark that whitens with age. The rich green foliage turns yellow in fall. Grows best in moist, well-drained acidic soils.  Tolerates alkaline soils, occasional flooding, and extended drought.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance.  Can be susceptible to the bronze birch borer, a pest that can cause significant damage. Regular monitoring for signs of infestation, such as D-shaped exit holes in the bark, is recommended. It's also prone to several diseases, including leaf spot and canker. Regular pruning can help maintain the tree's health and appearance.
