Purple Tears Switch Grass is a native warm-season ornamental grass with a dense upright habit and fine light green foliage that holds in fall. In summer stems holding airy clusters create a cloud of tiny, soft grey flowers above the foliage followed by purple seedheads that persist to winter. Prefers part sun and moist well-drained soils.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance plant. Too much shade will lose its upright form. Beetles and mites are occasional problems. Root and crown rot may occur in poorly drained soils. Some susceptibility to rust.
