These striking birds are monochromatic – hens being largely light gray fading into a charcoal head. Chicks have a lot of variety in color, ranging from nearly lavender to black. Blue Rocks are quite hardy and cold tolerant.

Also known as: Sapphire Rocks, Sapphire Blues, Sapphire Blue Rocks, Plymouth Blues etc.

Temperament:

  • Generally very sweet
  • Quiet

Egg Production:

  • Excellent egg producer
  • Lays about 300 large/extra large cream eggs per year

Attributes:

  • Exceptionally attractive
  • Chicks can be a variety of colors
  • Cool weather hardy
  • Usually between 4-5 lbs
