Snow white flesh with a delicate texture is milder and much less bitter than purple eggplants.

  • Heirloom variety that originated in France.
  • Compact plant that produces an abundance of 5-7 inch creamy white elongated fruits.
  • Young fruit do not need peeling.

  • SEED DEPTH: 1/4 inch
  • SEED SPACING: N/A
  • EMERGES: 10-20 days
  • MATURES: 70 days from setting out transplant

SOWING:

  • Start seed indoors 6-8 weeks before danger of frost is past.
  • Plant seed 1/4 inch deep in moist, soil-less mix and water well.
  • Place seed starting tray in a warm area.
  • Once seedlings appear, supply 10-14 hours of light from direct sun or grow light.
  • When seedlings are 3-4 inches high, transplant each into 4 inch pots where they will remain until planted outside.
  • Apply a diluted fertilizer when watering and continue 10-14 hours of exposure to direct light.
  • Harden-off plants before transplanting into the garden.

    GERMINATION:

    • Germinated in 10-20 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
    • Placing seed starting tray on a heart mat set at 85-degrees will hasten germination.

    THINNING:

    • N/A

    NOTES:

    • All eggplants are heart loving plants, but Casper White performs well even in cooler regions.
    • Plants can become heavy with fruit, so providing support when first planted outside is recommended.
