This hardy perennial herb is easy to grow and can be planted with flowers, vegetables and other herbs.
- Use as a border or in pots, either indoors or outside.
- The thin, green tube-like tops have a mild onion flavor.
- Used for flavoring salads, soups, stews and stir fry.
- Flower are also edible.
- Grows well in a sunny or slightly shaded location.

- SEED DEPTH: 1/4 inch
- SEED SPACING: 10-20 seeds within a 3 inch circle, 24 inches apart
- EMERGES: 10-15 days
- MATURES: 30 days
SOWING:
- Plant seed outdoors as soon as the ground can be worked.
- Plant 10-20 seeds within a 3 inch circle.
- Each seeded area should be 24 inches apart.
- Cover with 1/4 inch of fine soil, pressed down.
- Keep soil consistently moist until seeds start to grow.
GERMINATION:
- Germinates in 10-15 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
THINNING:
- No thinning should be necessary, as chives grow best in clumps.
NOTES:
- When plants are 4 inches tall, cut outer leaves near ground with scissors.
- Use fresh or frozen.
- When in flower, the lavender blooms make a very decorative border.
